Heritage Consultant London, Townscape were pleased to help secure Listed Building Consent for alterations to a central property on Shaftesbury Avenue in central London.
Townscape were approached regarding initial proposals and planning strategies to ensure Listed building consent for conversion of the the former Trocadero restaurant and casino on Shaftesbury Avenue in central London.
The building comprises of a number of buildings conjoined on the inside over five floors and spans number 23-32 Shaftesbury Avenue and includes part of the former Trocadero restaurant all listed at grade II.
The client, the Crystal Maze experience Live had exacting needs and a very tight timescale. We at Townscape ensured we made a timely intervention in helping to secure a pre-application site visit from a local authority planning officer to ensure that initial soft strip of items deemed to be of no significance could proceed in tandem with Listed Building Planning Application.
Townscape successfully compiled a detailed heritage statement of the existing building identifying those elements of significance and accrediting them a level of interest. In addition all our heritage statement are accompanied by an impact assessment of the proposed works upon those elements identified of significance. Of those elements considered if articular significance was a wonderful glass mosaic wall which was located on the internal stairs. made up of individual glass squares and painted to provide for an attractive and unique feature.
Listed building consent was granted by City of Westminster Council in April 2018 with a number of standard conditions and work has now progressed on opening up this new visitor attraction and experience in the heat of Londons Theatre land.
