The Site and project
Townscape Town Planning and Heritage Consultants has recently helped secure both Planning permission and Listed Building Consent for works at the Old Workhouse, Ruislip London. The Old Workhouse is a grade II listed building dating from the mid 1700’s originally constructed as the Workhouse for the Ruislip area. Located on the outskirts of Ruislip, The Old Workhouse is a grand house set within its own open generous grounds. Townscape worked with the property owners to improve and enlarge ancillary accommodation to include new build and extensions. Townscape Town Planning and Heritage Consultants undertook a full appraisal of the site and its immediate environment and prepared and submitted a comprehensive heritage statement and heritage impact assessment to accompany the planning application and drawings. Key to the success was the assessment and significance of the building and the level of harm the proposed works would have on the the key views and setting of the heritage asset. In addition, the site is located in an Archaeology priority Area and we undertook a desk top review of existing archaeological data.
The outcome
Once Planning and Listed Building Consent approved. Townscape were retained to help discharge conditions, to undertake archaeological building recording prior to commencement of works to ensure development can take place.
